What every board must disclose

Whatever method is chosen, a board cannot leave provisional status without stating all of the following in public:

• Which events are eligible, and what makes an event eligible
• The exact points table or rating formula
• Strength-of-field rules
• Placement values
• Time-decay rules
• Inactivity handling
• Weight-class movement rules
• Challenge-match rules
• Tie breakers, in order
• The appeal process and who hears appeals

Guarantees that hold regardless of method

Left and right hands never mix

They are separate boards with separate standings. An athlete can be ranked on one hand and unranked on the other, and that is shown honestly rather than averaged into a single number.

Only verified results can score

A result must have been checked against its source and approved by an administrator before it can affect any board. Imported but unverified results stay in the review queue and count for nothing.

Every movement is recorded

Each position change writes an audit record: previous position, new position, the reason, the event or match responsible, who made the change, and when. That history is visible on each board.

Rules are configuration, not code

Points values, decay windows, and eligibility thresholds are stored per board and edited by administrators. Changing a weighting does not require a software release, and every change is logged.

Athletes can contest a position

Any ranked athlete may file an appeal. Appeals move through open, under review, and upheld or denied — with a written outcome the athlete can read.
